West Pasco Historical Society to host Meet Our Candidates Afternoon | News
New Port Richey, Florida -- The West Pasco Historical Society is inviting residents to attend an old-fashioned Meet Our Candidates Afternoon on Saturday, Aug. 4.
The society has extended an invitation to all local candidates to bring a table, campaign staff and campaign materials at 1 p.m., and at 1:30, after the Chester McKay VFW Honor Guard presents the colors and The Pledge of Allegiance.
All candidates who respond to the invitation by July 31 will divide a 90-minute block of time among them to speak to the voters.
The event will be held at the Gazebo in front of the Rao Musunuru M.D. Museum at 6431 Circle Boulevard, New Port Richey, between Sims Park and Orange Lake.
"Our democracy depends on an educated public willing to inform themselves and to vote, as well as individuals willing to campaign for political office, despite the personal hardships and hard work required," museum librarian Dan Callaghan said. "We are inviting all candidates regardless of political party, or their choosing to run independently. We hope our citizens will come to meet their candidates, and to take a walk through their newly-renovated museum and library."
Members of the historical society will bring a dessert to pass, and candidates can choose to bring one as well. The historical society will provide water and iced tea as well. Candidates are encouraged to contact Dan Callaghan at (727) 372-1742 by July 31 if they will attend or to seek more information.
