Dade City, Florida-- A 49-year-old man was transported to a Bay Area hospital by Bayflight after an accident occurred at the Dade City Fairgrounds before the fireworks display.
Preliminary information from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office explains the man worked for the fireworks company responsible for the display.
A mortar allegedly went off right after clearing the launch tube and blew up, causing him to receive burns and shrapnel wounds to his face and hands.
Officials say he was transported to a Bay area hopital as a non-trauma alert, with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.
The fireworks show for tonight was cancelled and officials say it should take place tomorrow evening, July 5, instead.
