SmithFaith Thrift Shop Fundraiser

New Port Richey, Florida - The SmileFaith Thrift Shop is opening to the public as a charity fundraising event.

Organizers describe the location as a friendly, clean, and fun place to shop. 

There's a wide variety of items to choose from.

All proceeds go toward restoring smiles through the SmileFaith Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable dental organization.

The group is also accepting donations.

Paddling Pasco trip

Paddling Pasco trip

Pasco County, Florida -- Celebrate the holiday weekend by taking a 7 mile paddling trip on Sunday, May 26. 

 The trip is recommended for stronger paddlers that can maintain a 2-3 mile an hour pace for about 3+ hours with a couple of short breaks.

The trip goes through open water along a beautiful, pristine shallow mangrove lined coast.

The trip goes through Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park and boats must be dropped off at Hudson beach by 9:00 a.m. Shuttles will bring paddlers back to their boats for launch.

Memorial Day blood drives

Third-grade FCAT math and reading scores static

Tallahassee, Florida - This year's FCAT results are out for reading, math and writing and they show improvements in writing and little change in math and reading.

In third grade reading, 57 percent of students scored a three or higher on a five-point scale and are considered proficient readers. That's up one percent from last year.

AAA offers "Tow To Go" service Memorial Day weekend

Tampa Bay, Florida-- It's hard to imagine why one would risk getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, but AAA's "To to Go" program makes it that much harder. 

According to AAA's website, "To to Go" offers intoxicated drivers a free, confidential ride to a safe place within a 10 mile radius, along with a free tow for their car.

Pasco County, Florida --Members of the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee have planned a breakfast featuring Pasco County legislators to be held on Friday, May 31.

The breakfast will be held at the Spartan Manor (6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey, FL 34653) beginning at 8 a.m. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and a full breakfast buffet will be available for attendees.
