Pasco County, Florida -- The Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department will be temporarily closing the boardwalk/fishing pier at Anclote Gulf Park temporarily. 

The closure is due to construction that will begin on Monday, May 13. 

The park will be closed daily at dusk until the repairs have been completed.

Moms get a great deal on pet adoptions!

Pasco County, Florida - Pasco County Animal Services will be hosting free adoptions for all Mothers through May 18. Adoptable dogs and cats will be FREE to moms in celebration of Mother's Day. 

This is a great deal because the regular adoption fees are $70 for dogs and $40 for cats.

There will be a $10 fee for a Pasco County dog license.

PCAS will feature adoptable dogs at the Pasco County Home Show at the Verizon Center in New Port Richey on Friday, 5/10/2013 from 11:30 am -1:00 pm. 

Teen charged with murder in Dade City shooting

DADE CITY, Fla. -- A 17-year-old boy has been charged with first degree murder after Pasco County detectives say he shot and killed his sister's boyfriend as the couple sat in a car on Friday night.

Adan David Diaz Jr. is accused of shooting 32-year-old Juan Quesada-Acuna in Diaz's yard at 40214 River Road.

Neighbors say they heard three gunshots just after 10 p.m. on Friday, followed by the sirens of several police cars speeding by their homes.

Pasco County, Florida -- Come test out your baseball skills at Veterans Memorial Park!

Pasco County Parks and Recreation and Veterans Memorial Park will host Pitch, Hit & Run. 

Pitch, Hit & Run is a competition where participants get to try out different aspects of baseball. Competitors ages 7 to 14 get to pitch from a designated target, hit from a stationary batting tee for distance and accuracy, and run from second base to home plate for time. 

Dade City teen arrested for first degree murder

Dade City, Florida- We have an update to a breaking story out of Dade City late Friday night, May 10. 

According to reports, detectives have arrested a 17-year-old boy for the murder of his sister's 32-year-old boyfriend.

Detectives say Juan Quesada-Acuna was shot and killed by Adan David Diaz Jr. while Acuna was sitting in a vehicle in the yard with the Diaz's sister.

Detectives say, Diaz shot Acuna with a 9mm handgun. 

Adan David Diaz Jr. has been arrested on a first degree murder charge and booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.

Mail carriers collect food for Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive!

Carrollwood, Florida - Mail carriers will take part in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Residents can leave non-perishable food item by their mailbox and the letter carrier will pick it up. The food will be donated to food banks to distribute to needy citizens.

Last year, over 70-million pounds of food was donated across the country.

If you cannot leave food items by your mailbox, you can drop it by your local post office.

UPDATE: Dade City shooting now classified as homicide

Dade City, Florida-- Update: Pasco County Sheriff's deputies say the victim in Friday night's Dade City shooting has died. 

An updated report sent just before midnight says the suspect shot and killed the victim, who was sitting in a vehicle outside a home on the 40200 block of River Road. 

Deputies have the suspect in custody, and say he knew the victim personally. 

No additional information has been released at this time.
