Jarrett Ford & Lincoln and Rotary Club of Dade City are generously hosting a "Drive Smart for a Cause" event, Dec 2. If you test drive a car and fill out a comment card, Habitat will earn a $20 donation! Just make sure you write in Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco as the charity of your choice on your comment card.

We are asking everyone to come out, take a free test drive, and support our cause! No pressure from a salesman, no cost, just a fun ride. Everyone deserves a decent place to live! This is an easy way to make a difference.

County Christmas at Pioneer Museum

Dade City, Florida -- The Pioneer Florida Museum and Village is hosting a Country Christmas Open House Saturday, Dec. 3.

The event is free and runs from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

The Pioneer Florida Museum and Village is decorated for the holidays and will server cookies and punch and offer barrel rides and hayrides.

Kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Woodland Elementary Chorus will provide seasonal music.

Although the event is free, volunteers will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to give to Dade City Charities.

Attempted robbery at Sweetbay liquor store

Zephyrhills, FL -- Pasco deputies are looking for the person who robbed a Sweetbay Liquor Store in Zephyrhills Friday night.

According to police, around 6:38 p.m., the masked suspect entered the store, at 38935 CR 54, and displayed a handgun, pointed it at the cashier, and demanded money but fled without getting any.

Police say it is believed he left in a white, full-size, newer model Ford passenger van.

Traffic app helps holiday shoppers

Before you head out to the mall this year for Christmas shopping keep in mind that you can take a look at what traffic looks like before you get on the highway.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has an app for that.

The Florida 511 app now features traffic camera views that show crashes, congestion and other incidents on all of Florida's interstates and roll roads. The app uses the iPhone's GPS tracking to provide you with traffic information within miles of your location.

If no serious action is taken, the United Nations reports that the number of slum dwellers worldwide will increase over the next 30 years to nearly 2 billion.(3)

One dead in boat accident off Sunshine Skyway

St. Petersburg, Florida - A boating accident off the Sunshine Skyway has killed one person.

Two commercial fishermen were out fishing when the 18-foot vessel hit a sandbar, ejecting Anthony George Loveridge, 42, of Zephyrhills, acording to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Loveridge fell off the starboard bow and was struck by the prop. He was not wearing a life jacket, the FWC said.
